Top of Budapest

As runners know, hillwork is a great way to build strength necessary for long runs.
We headed towards the Gellert hill experience on 7 of May with significant hunger for some actions of a Budapest sightseeing running tour.

After a couple of basic stretching movements, the mission started with the ascend on the Kelenhegyi lejto.  The weather was optimal for a jog, about 23 degrees with some clouds and a little wind. We passed many upscale residential bulidings bulit in the 18th century surrounded by incredibly green trees and hidden pathways, until we got to the stairs of Citadella. Knowing the Heart Beat Tour is worth trying, we strongly focused on the target, however we started too feel those nasty steps...The last effort to survive and we finally got to the top.

Breathtaking moments followed as the view from Citadella was incredible and we forgot all the sweating produced while climbing. No matter how many times I experience this scene, the effect is always the same and I suddenly  get addicted. We stopped and spent long minutes with admiring our beautiful Danube crossing among the great historical buildings on the riverside. Sunset was in progress and painted the sky with memorable colours .

Descending started when a group of wild ducks showed up behind the monumental walls looking for some shelter from the big audience of tourists. We took some pictures and carried on with the relaxing run down on the other side of the hill while looking at the beautiful spectatcles of Buda castle and Erzsebet bridge. The last stop took place at St.Stephan's cave near the Gellert bath where we took our chance to get inside before the evening mass started . Although we were a bit exhausted, the atmosphere of the chapel filled us with good energy and made a perfect end point of the tour.

We have taken a lovely pictuer on the top of Budapes:
